Submission to Economic Reform Roundtable

In 27 July 2025, the Australian Constructors Association lodged a submission to the Federal Government’s Economic Reform Roundtable, highlighting five key reforms to boost productivity in construction—an industry vital to Australia’s economic performance. The ACA’s recommendations focus on areas where the Australian Government can exert influence through its investment and coordination role. These include:

  • Requiring consistent national infrastructure standards
  • Standardising contract forms to reduce cost and complexity
  • Implementing a national value-for-money procurement framework
  • Establishing a national skills recognition and licensing scheme
  • Reviewing Work Health and Safety laws to reduce misuse and improve enforcement.

Together, these reforms offer a clear path to improved productivity, financial sustainability and industry-wide innovation—delivering better outcomes for taxpayers and future generations.
