The Australian Constructors Association (ACA) welcomes the appointment of Simon Crooks as CEO of the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA).
ACA CEO Jon Davies said the appointment is a key step forward in delivering the legacy infrastructure promised as part of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“Simon is a key piece in the Games delivery jigsaw. He knows Queensland’s infrastructure and with extensive experience leading major projects, he’s well placed to make sure the work done now delivers lasting benefits,” said Mr Davies.
Simon Crooks will officially commence as GIICA CEO just days before the ACA hosts its flagship Foundations and Frontiers forum (FF25) in Brisbane.
“This year’s FF25 will put the spotlight on productivity,” said Mr Davies. “We’re delighted to be joined by Sir David Higgins, CEO of the London 2012 Olympics, who will share what worked well in delivering one of the most celebrated Games in history.
“We’ll also hear from GIICA Chair Stephen Conry, who is focused on ensuring Queensland builds on those global learnings and delivers infrastructure that creates long-term value for the state.”
The ACA looks forward to working closely with Simon Crooks and GIICA to deliver the Games infrastructure.
