ACA member organisations are committed to the pursuit of an Australian construction industry free of fatalities and permanent injuries. The following Safety Principles guide our members in all of their activities:

People

  • Strong safety leadership at every level is required to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all people attending our workplaces and those potentially impacted by them.
  • Leaders at every level are accountable for safety. People at every level are responsible for safety.

Prevention

  • All injuries can be prevented. Risks and hazards can be eliminated or managed.
  • WHS reporting must be transparent and consistent, including a focus on positive performance (lead) indicators.

Partnering

  • Improving safety requires the promotion of a mature safety culture within industry participants, clients, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Industry must have a voice in the development and maintenance of a modern regulatory framework, and contribute to WHS policy development.
  • Knowledge and experience sharing is critical to improving safety in the construction industry.
