The Thiess name has been synonymous with Australia’s landmark construction projects since the company became the largest contractor on the Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Thiess is currently delivering Airport Link, Australia’s largest ever infrastructure project; was recently awarded Victoria’s largest ever infrastructure project, the $3.5 billion Victorian Desalination Project; and recently completed the Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment Plant, which is part of the largest recycled water program in the Southern Hemisphere.

The company has mining, construction and services operations throughout Australia and selected international markets. Thiess is actively involved in a number of Public Private Partnerships, bringing to these projects significant financial strength and multi-discipline capabilities.

In 2009, the company celebrated 75 years of construction achievements ranging from the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, to EastLink, and the recently completed Epping to Chatswood Rail Line.

Thiess’ experience and capabilities cover a broad range of markets including transport, healthcare, water and wastewater, defence, aviation, education, power, resources, LNG, correctional, marine, industrial, commercial and recreational.

The company’s core strength lies in its diversity and the ability to deliver a whole of project offering to even the most complicated projects. Through projects such as the TrackStar Alliance in Queensland, the M80 Ring Road in Melbourne, the Gorgon Project in Western Australia, Coopernook to Herons Creek in New South Wales and the South Road Upgrade in South Australia, Thiess is developing the solutions to respond to a new generation of construction challenges.
